So now that the built-in bookcases are painted I am plotting the styling. Because even though they're functional doesn't mean they can't be pretty too. So I've rounded up some inspiration photos.
Totally into the whole library ladder thing. Ours is looking pretty good, but probably won't be completely functional. It has wheels and all that, but in order to get it to slide we would have to install a pole of some sort and the span is so great that there is no way we'd be able to get one single pole that long into the apartment. I saw some kits online, but they are like $300.00 and it just doesn't seem worth it at all. Plus, you can just pick up the ladder and move it to where you need it. And if we are being totally honest, the likelihood of me needing anything on a shelf so high that I need a ladder is pretty slim.
I like the mix of books and objects. But I bet it is going to be hard to get the right ratio. At least I have some time to let the paint completely dry before I have to start to thinking about it too much.
