Underrated

Happy New Year!  I have some new-yearzy type posts in the works, but as per my usual, not enough time to get them written out and filled in with photos.  Soon.  In the meantime here is a list of some stuff I think is underrated.

1. Nabisco soda crackers.  They appear in a pretty plain cardboard box with the flashy words "Premium" and "Fresh Stacks"on the front.  They are not expensive and they are so tasty!  They don't need cheese, but it sure doesn't hurt.  They are flaky and buttery and crunchy and delicious.  Try them when you aren't sick and you will be pleasantly surprised.  At least I was.

2.  Free online workouts.  There are so many free workouts online, why would you pay for a gym membership?  On hulu there are hundreds of free workouts.  All different levels and lengths.  You can try a bunch, string a couple together for a longer workout and you will be confusing your muscles by constantly mixing it up, which "they" (whomever they is) say is a good way to build strength and lose weight.   And it is so boring to keep doing the same thing over and over, so with the variety of free workouts it is both motivating and fiscally responsible.  Double win!

3.  Hart of Dixie.  I am not going to lie, I am a total sucker for shows with good relationships.  And this one is awesome.  Don't focus on the doctoring part of the show, it is mindless entertainment, not a NOVA special on medicine.  Until recently I only knew one other person hooked on this show, but I have recently converted a friend.  The three of us are not going to keep this show on the air, so please, check it out.  You might fall in love with it and get totally hooked like we did.

4. Public Libraries.  Books, music, movies, lectures on disc, books on tape, magazines, large print and digital editions, all for free with your library card.  Is this not the greatest idea ever?!  I am in love with my library.  I think it is amazing.  I want to take it out for pizza and shower it with champagne and fancy chocolate like a real Valentine.  Because I love it so much.

5.  Mismatched mugs.  Mugs don't have to match.  As long as they are all ones that you love to look at and / or mean something to you.  (I cannot bring myself to get rid of the mug I received when I graduated from law school.  It is not an attractive mug.  But yet I somehow feel that just maybe it validates my efforts.  Pathetic, yes.  No doubt about it.)  I bought a couple random mugs that for one reason or another bring me so much joy when I drink from them.  Either they are cute or pretty or generously sized or all of the above.  They just make the morning coffee or evening tea seem so much more festive.

What about you?  What do you think is underrated?  How do you feel about the new year?  Grab a mismatched mug and ponder.
